2024 Project Summary
A grant of £1000 to support the construction of a guardian shelter at Chilumba rural Health Centre, Karonga. The building was damaged in the strong winds and heavy rains of cyclone Freddy, meaning that delivery of healthcare services especially the antenatal and postnatal services are severely disrupted.
Brown Mkandawire, Programme Coordinator with RESARU stated that mothers and babies are at risk with the lack of healthcare services and guardians for patients no longer have a shelter. The project will help to restore the provision of quality healthcare services to over 20,000 people.

2024 Project Summary
A grant of £1000 to support the reconstruction of a borehole as Nansonjo Primary School in Blantyre. The borehole was damaged by Cyclone Freddy in 2023 and by restoring it a clean water supply will be returned to the students, teachers and surrounding households. The FOMA grant was used to purchase the equipment needed to repair the borehole and the community provided other materials, labour and support.
Brown Mkandawire, Programme Coordinator with RESARU explained that the project has not only reduced the burden of travelling long distances for clean water but also reduced the incidence of waterborne diseases such as cholera.
